Chris Jodoin is an award-winning event designer with a focus on corporate event design down to the finest detail. With over 12 years of experience in the event industry, Chris is an architect of experience that truly compliments a space. He believes that great parties don’t just happen, there is an art to entertaining. As a proud member of ILEA Vancouver, Chris received his CSEP (Certified Special Event Professional) designation in November 2013. Chris also prides himself on his ability to find the right people to get the job done and over the years has curated an incredible team for Spectra Event group. Aside from his years of expertise in event design, Chris is also an amazing dad!

ROBERT PORTER

Owner and Director of Business Development Robert Porter has been working in the live events industry for over 20 years. Specializing in many areas of planning and producing large scale events to styling intimate gatherings in unique spaces and private homes. In addition to his skills in design, Robert has brought focus and clarity to the operations of Spectra Event Group through streamlining our practice and process. He has introduced Spectra to new and innovative ideas that will continue to grow our business and offering to clients. Robert loves to work with fun enthusiastic people that have a passion for celebrating life.

SIMONE SANDO

Senior Event Designer

Simone Sando is originally from small town Union Bay on Vancouver Island. She spent a handful of years in Victoria before moving to the big city. While living in Vancouver, Simone has become quite a figure in event design in Vancouver. She has designed for venues throughout the city, British Columbia, and Banff. Simone has even made her way to France, where she worked with a team that designed a series of events in Paris. Simone is also our in-house floral designer and has created some of our most memorable centerpieces.

David began his creative career in the theatre. After studying theatre performance at the University of Evansville, he toured internationally as a performer for Imago theatre. Originally from Portland, Oregon he eventually made his way to NYC where he worked with an Academy Award-winning producer. He also worked for a production company that specialized in producing photo shoots for companies such as V Magazine, Vogue Paris, and Carolina Herrera. David is ecstatic to be back on the west coast and to bring his creative skills to Spectra Event Group. 

Aljaz Filej

Warehouse Associate

Aljaz comes to us all the way from a different continent. Since moving to Canada and landing in Vancouver, Aljaz, has worked on a number of events for Spectra Event Group. He is a huge contributor in the preparation of events. He prepares all the products and often is the person responsible for the delivery of all decor as our lead driver. Since moving to Canada, Aljaz has become quite the traveler. He has had the pleasure of discovering an assortment of places that North America has to offer.

Purchasing & Inventory Specialist

Penny was born and raised on Vancouver Island and lived in Nelson and Whistler before eventually making her way to Vancouver. Earning a diploma in Ski Resort Operations and Management, Penny worked in the ski resort industry for 5 years before switching gears to retail and wholesale inventory management. While Penny leads our warehouse team with over 20 years of experience, she is also a major creative force for Spectra. A lifelong creative with skills in painting, chalkboard lettering, jewelry making, costume design, and production - Penny often lends her skillful hand to the creation of many of our custom pieces.

Tryst is an incredible asset to the Spectra Team. With years of experience, Tryst is the team lead for all our in-house custom fabrication projects. He is also extremely crucial to our warehouse and operations teams, often taking on projects back-of-house as well as on-site for events. In addition to his work with Spectra, Tryst is also a talented musician who records and travels with his band throughout British Columbia and all of Canada.
